Lourdes Orta

Lourdes Orta is a lifelong educator, community builder, and the driving force behind the SAS & AAA Alumni Association. With more than 30 years of service in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, she has strengthened classrooms, schools, and entire communities through her dedication, creativity, and leadership.

A proud graduate of the University of Miami and Nova Southeastern University, Lourdes spent decades teaching English, expanding advanced coursework, and supporting student life—including launching Braddock’s first competitive varsity cheerleading squad and leading enrichment programs at MAST@Homestead.

In her role as Administrative Liaison for SAS and AAA, she built the Alumni Association from the ground up, forging partnerships across Miami and raising funds to support students transitioning to college. Under her guidance, the association has united alumni across three decades and awarded more than $20,000 in scholarships and prizes in just its first 18 months.

Beyond her work in education, Lourdes is an artist whose creativity shines through pottery, painting, and mixed-media work. Known for her generosity and warmth, she is also a devoted wife and proud mother of two accomplished sons.

Lourdes’ legacy is one of connection, service, and an unwavering commitment to uplifting others and we are so lucky to have her to guide this Association.
